Laura Chenicek

Chenicek holds an M.F.A. in painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She is a mixed-media artist whose work is concerned with the physical, emotional and psychological wounds that can permeate families and the ways in which children cope with their feelings of anxiety, helplessness and hurt. She uses mixed-media in combination with painted landscape images to explore how the mind processes painful events. Chenicek, who has been an artist for more than thirty years, has had exhibitions throughout the Southeast. Recent exhibitions include solo shows at the Tennessee Arts Commission Gallery, the Sarratt Center Gallery, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, and the Hite Gallery at the University of Louisville, Louisville, KY. She has also exhibited at the Centennial Art Center, Nashville, TN, the Customs House Museum, Clarksville, TN, the Museum of Fine Arts, Florida State University, Tallahassee, FL, and the Mobile Museum of Art, Mobile, AL, among others. She was recently awarded a Kentucky Foundation for Women Artists Enrichment grant. Her work is in major corporate and private collections nationally. Snow Gallery offers a unique mix of historical and contemporary art juxtaposed to bridge eras and cultures. Rotating current exhibits complement an outstanding collection of rare prints, textiles, and other arts and crafts from around the world.
